James Woodress is a professor emeritus of American literature at the University of California, Davis and the author of many books, including Willa Cather: A Literary Life (1987). Kari A. Ronning is a research associate for the Willa Cather Project at the University of Nebraska. Frederick M. Link is a professor emeritus of English at the University of Nebraska
